'Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club' puts a focus on youth mental wellness

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) — The Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club gives children the opportunity to mature by caring for horses.

They recently gathered their kids together to focus on mental wellness, and develop tools for emotional health.

“We want to teach kids how to emotionally regulate their feelings, that they have people here in the community that care for them,” said Nasreen Naidoo, Chief Operating Officer of Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club.

It was all part of their event titled “A Space to Be You.”

“There’s a grief counselor here, we have a dance therapist, someone who does poetry, restorative justice…So the goal of this is for them to learn tools for mental health that they can take home,” said Dallas Rico, Director of Partnership Outreach of Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club.
