Clemson University Cooperative Extension has launched a Nutrition Advisory Board in Williamsburg County to strengthen community health and nutrition education efforts.

The board will meet quarterly to provide guidance, partnership support and strategic direction for local nutrition initiatives. Members also received an overview of additional Clemson Extension programs available in the county, including 4-H, agriculture and livestock programs.

Woodrena Cooper Segres will serve as interim president during the board’s foundational year.

The advisory board includes a diverse group of faith leaders and community stakeholders committed to improving health outcomes across Williamsburg County.

Members will work closely with Inetta Fulton, Williamsburg County nutrition educator, to support Clemson Extension programs such as nutrition education classes, wellness initiatives, youth engagement and community outreach.

Through the partnership, the board aims to strengthen community engagement, support evidence-based nutrition programming, expand partnerships with churches, civic groups and local agencies, and promote healthy lifestyles for residents of all ages.

Organizers said the inaugural meeting held Feb. 26 set the tone for a collaborative and forward-thinking approach to building a healthier Williamsburg County.
