Construction is well underway for the new community health and wellness center at 9801 Penn Ave. S. Following demolition of the old Creekside Community Center late last year, crews moved quickly, installing footings, laying foundations, installing underground utilities and raising vertical precast walls. The building is starting to take shape.

The new facility, approved by Bloomington voters in 2023 and funded with a half-percent local sales tax, will replace aging spaces with a modern, inclusive hub for health, fitness and community programming. A local sales tax is a transaction-based tax added to the purchase price of taxable goods and services.

When completed in fall 2027, the center will offer recreational amenities, public health services and flexible spaces designed for people of all ages and abilities.
