Fitness influencer and cancer researcher Stephanie Buttermore has died suddenly at age 36

Bodybuilder Jeff Nippard announced that his fiancée, fitness influencer Stephanie Buttermore has died.
Nippard’s team posted the news of Buttermore’s death in a statement shared to Instagram on Friday, March 6. She was 36 years old. No information on her cause of death has been made public.
“It is with profound sorrow that we share the sudden passing of Jeff’s fiancée and partner of ten years, Stephanie,” the post read. “As many of you know, Stephanie meant the world to Jeff.”
The post celebrated Buttermore’s legacy and continued, “She will be remembered for her warmth and compassion, her love for her family, and her PhD research on ovarian cancer.”
The statement concluded by asking to respect Nippard’s request for privacy.

The news of Buttermore’s death comes days after she celebrated her birthday on Feb. 25. Less than two weeks before her birthday, Nippard posted a photo with her on his Instagram. He shared a photo of the pair smiling together in honor of Valentine’s Day. “Relationshipmaxxing with tea time to lower cortisol levels ❤️,” he captioned the post.
Prior to her death, Buttermore was also a successful fitness influencer before she decided to quit in May 2024. At the time, she announced how she decided to take a step back for her mental health. She explained that her anxiety had become “crippling,” but after taking a break from social media, her mental health became “the best it’s ever been.”
Buttermore, who had 525K Instagram followers and over 1 million YouTube subscribers, created content for women and their health journeys, consistently promoting body positivity and intuitive eating.
According to her YouTube channel, she was a cancer research scientist who earned a Ph.D. in pathology and cell biology “with a focus on the molecular mechanisms that drive ovarian cancer progression.”

Nippard and Buttermore announced their engagement in October 2022. In their engagement announcement, Nippard shared that their relationship began after he sent her a message on social media, and the pair “immediately formed a friendship.”
“We started Skyping for 3-4 hours every day for about a month (no joke) until I went to visit her in Florida from Canada,” he wrote. “Our first date was a shoulder workout and I will never forget it 😂.”
Because comments were limited on the announcement post, fans of the couple expressed their condolences in the last photo he shared on his profile.
“I am so so sorry. I have followed Stephanie for years, what a beautiful soul. Praying for you and your loved ones,” one user wrote.
Another added: “I love you Jeff. I can’t imagine what you’re going through. Prayers for you ❤️.”
