Wethersfield Jr./Sr. High School hosted its second annual Health and Wellness Day on Friday, March 6, giving high school students an opportunity to step away from the classroom and participate in activities focused on relaxation and well-being.

The event featured four stations that allowed students to leave campus and take part in activities designed to reduce stress and promote wellness.

Wethersfield students were all smiles as they prepared to paint a bunny.

The day was organized by the Wethersfield Culture and Climate Committee, which helped coordinate the event and introduce new activities for students this year.

One of the featured activities was horse therapy, which was recommended by committee member Shelli Sauer. With support from TriCo Equestrian Center, the station was added to this year’s lineup.

Students at Wethersfield Jr/Sr. High School spent Friday doing activities designed to reduce stress.

Local businesses and organizations also participated in the event by hosting activities for students. The Wanee Theater, The Lott and the YMCA provided locations for several stations, including a movie station at the theater, activities at the YMCA and recreation opportunities at The Lott.

Wethersfield Principal Tyler Nichols, who is also a member of the Culture and Climate Committee, said the event would not be possible without the support of local partners.

“I’m very grateful to all the businesses — the YMCA, The Lott, Wanee Theater and TriCo,” Nichols said. “Without their generosity, this wouldn’t happen.”

After participating in the activities, students returned to the school for an 11:30 a.m. dismissal, which allowed them the rest of the day to relax and recharge.
