LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KFOX14/CBS4) — The employee of a smoothie nutrition place in Las Cruces was arrested Tuesday after police accused her of stealing a client’s debit card information to rent a car.
Renee Abrie Garcia-Ramirez, 44, an employee of Triple Threat Nutrition located at 1300 El Paseo Rd., was arrested and charged with fraudulent use of a credit card after investigators believed she stole the debit card of a woman who had stopped by the place to buy a shake.
According to police documents, the victim bought the shake on Feb. 16– telling investigators she remembered handing over the debit card to Garcia-Ramirez– and then the next day, on Feb. 17, she noticed something was wrong with her account when she was going to put gas in her vehicle, and her card was declined due to insufficient funds.
The victim told investigators she went to her bank to investigate, as she was sure she had money, since she had just gotten paid.

At the bank, the victim said she learned that someone had used her card on Turo.com, an online car rental company, on the morning of Feb. 17.
The victim said she then started the “fraudulent process” with her bank, and on Monday, March 9, the bank called her with the result of their investigation, showing that they had reportedly learned that Garcia-Ramirez had rented a 2020 Chevrolet Spark for $359.83 using the victim’s debit card information.
According to the booking information, it appears that Garcia-Ramirez was arrested at Triple Threat Nutrition as the arrest location (1300 El Paseo Rd.) matches the location of the business.
