BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (WVVA) – Community Action of South Eastern West Virginia (CASEWV) is marking National Child and Adult Care Food Program Week next week, highlighting a federal program the agency says helps improve nutrition, support child care providers and reduce food insecurity across the region.
The Child and Adult Care Food Program, known as CACFP, helps ensure children and adults in care settings have access to nutritious meals. CASEWV says it supports providers in Mercer, Monroe, Summers, Greenbrier, Raleigh and Fayette counties, including the Oak Hill area, by offering training, program oversight and reimbursement that helps providers serve healthy meals while staying financially stable.
CASEWV leaders say the program’s impact goes beyond meals, helping families in areas where access to fresh food can be limited and encouraging healthier eating habits early in life.
The CACFP is one of the most impactful investments we make in the health and stability of enrolled families.
Through CACFP, CASEWV ensures that our in‑home childcare partners — many of which are small businesses — have the support and resources they need to continue nourishing the next generation.
Nationally, CASEWV notes, CACFP serves more than 4.6 million children and 117,000 adults each day.
