THE WHAT? L’Oréal has expanded its partnership with NVIDIA to accelerate beauty innovation using AI-powered computational chemistry.
THE DETAILS By integrating NVIDIA’s ALCHEMI machine learning framework into its Research & Innovation ecosystem, L’Oréal is developing an AI engine capable of predicting how ingredients behave at an atomic level. This allows scientists to simulate formulation performance, texture and molecular interactions in a virtual environment.
The technology enables L’Oréal to test thousands of variables simultaneously, making the product discovery process up to 100 times faster than traditional methods. The initiative is currently focused on key areas such as photoprotection and skin tone management, aiming to optimise formulations before physical testing. The partnership builds on earlier collaboration in marketing and advertising and now extends into core scientific research.
THE WHY? The move is designed to accelerate innovation, improve product efficacy and position L’Oréal at the forefront of AI-driven, science-led beauty development.
