A nasal vaccine for COVID-19 is based on WashU Medicine technology. The vaccine is designed to induce strong immunity in the nose and upper respiratory tract, right where the virus enters the body, thereby potentially stopping transmission of the virus in addition to reducing serious illness and death.
According to an animal study by researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, nasal COVID-19 vaccines block transmission of the virus. The findings suggest that vaccines delivered directly to the nose or mouth could play a critical role in containing the spread of respiratory infections. #covid19 #covid #nasalvaccine
