LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – Viterbo University is gearing up for a milestone celebration of its nutrition program’s 50th anniversary.
Students have been busy preparing healthy cupcakes for the event set for Friday, March 20.
The main focus of the celebration will be students in the nutrition and dietetics program. They will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of sports nutrition while enjoying presentations on the topic, one they are passionate about.
“How do we have an event, and also how do we provide education on things that people are really interested in?” said Tiffany Lein, assistant professor. “One thing that we’ve noticed is a lot of our students in nutrition and dietetics really are passionate about sports nutrition, so it ties an interest of our students, a piece of the community that people are looking for, and a way to celebrate 50 years and welcome our alumni back.”
Students are also eager for community members to see their progress and knowledge.
“Nutrition is a huge aspect in our world right now and something that’s very needed, and so I hope that with the community members coming, they just recognize that we’re doing all that we can,” said Lauren Scott, a junior. “Our professors are equipping us in all the ways that they can so that when we get out into the real world, we can help people and help people become healthier and just know how to fuel their bodies.”
For those interested in attending, the full schedule for Friday’s celebration is available on Viterbo’s website.
