GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) -Members of the Gainesville chapter of the Links are hosting their annual Black Family Wellness Expo on Saturday morning.
This potentially lifesaving event is open to everyone, and they’re offering so many health-related options, especially those that affect black and brown communities.
“We’ll be addressing different health disparities,” Alena Bennet, president of the Gainesville Links Inc, shared. “Like stroke, heart disease, diabetes, vision, dental, and we’re going to address food disparity. We’ll have a food van here that will show people how to prepare healthy meals.”
They will also be giving out gun locks for gun safety, have an on-site OB-GYN, a mobile mammogram unit, and speakers on colorectal cancer and menopause.
It all begins today at the Church of God by Faith in Gainesville and runs from 10 to 2.
