A new model for Indiana law enforcement physical fitness testing for new hires takes effect in August, Princeton Police Department used the model for new-hire testing Saturday. “We are one of the first agencies in the state to use the new model and incorporate it,” said PPD Chief Bobby Wood. “The old model featured a push-up test, sit-up test, 1.5 mile run, 300 meter run, and vertical jump test. The new model features hurdles, crawls, fence jumps, body drags, running, kettlebell carry, stairs and memory tests,” he explained.

Officers are required to pass the timed test. Wood said supplies for the testing were either donated or built by officers and department. ” Many departments are gearing up for this new testing, we were lucky enough to be proactive and roll it out today,” he said Saturday.
