Keri Russell has never looked better as she turns 50.
The Diplomat actress is marking her milestone birthday today so it seems the perfect time to look how her diet and fitness routine keeps her looking naturally fabulous and youthful.
The American star – who has previously shared her opinion on the impossibly high beauty standards and plastic surgery trends in Hollywood – says she ‘feels her sexiest after a workout’ and prioritises wellness to look her best.
The mother-of-three describes herself as a ‘physical person’ and is often keeping fit with ‘tough’ bike rides, dancing around her living room to loud music or simply heading to the gym.
She previously told Shape magazine while posing in skimpy shorts: ‘I’m happiest when I work out. You need that hit – where everything is moving and pumping and you instantly feel positive.
‘I feel my absolute best – my sexiest – after a good workout. Right now, that’s usually a tough bike ride. Or I’ll dance around in my room to loud music and do moves I remember from a pregnancy video I had.’

She also chatted to the publication about her diet, saying she is ‘generally a pretty healthy eater’.
Keri told how she lives by the rule of having hot water and lemon before bed and when she wakes up but never rules out a sweet treat – admitting she ‘ate so many doughnuts’ when filming The Americans with her partner Matthew Rhys.
She also revealed that on Sundays she is always busy making a big roast chicken for her family with vegetables and Yorkshire puddings – which she described as a ‘guilty pleasure’.
Keri explained: ‘When I see those people who look so great for their age, I’m like, ‘Oh, I do want that. I do want to look like that at 60.’ I’m just not ready to stick to a strict regimen. I still want to have fun a little longer. I’ll still have the pasta Bolognese.’
She also credits ‘good sleep’, ‘good sex’, spending time with her girlfriends and alone time on her bike for her overall health.
Keri shares children River and Willa with ex-husband Shane Deary and son Sam with partner Matthew but still makes sure to stay focused on her routines.
Keri has also previously revealed how she stayed fit while filming The Diplomat – which was renewed for a fourth season in May 2025.
She told the Las Vegas Review-Journal in 2023. ‘To get rid of stress, I ride my bike into the city from my home in Brooklyn and over the bridge into Manhattan.
‘I’ll do it at 5:30 in the morning when the city is quiet.’
When she was shooting The Diplomat, Keri said that she ‘rode a bike all over London, which was wonderful. You get exercise and really see the city.’
Just last October Keri shared her opinion on the impossibly high beauty standards and plastic surgery trends in Hollywood.
The actress discussed how she’s ‘totally empathetic’ with her character on The Diplomat, US Ambassador Kate Wyler, whose makeup-free appearance is often judged by other characters.
The Felicity star admitted that while she likes her on-screen look, she feels it’s ‘strange’ to look natural given the pressure for physical perfection.
‘It’s such a weird thing being a woman. Everyone has an opinion about the way you look, the way you dress, the way your hair is,’ she told People in an interview.
‘It’s something my girlfriends and I talk about all the time. Plastic surgery is having such a moment right now – men, women, 20-year-olds. I mean, it is around,’ the actress added.
‘We’re inundated with these movie stars. Even though they might be 50 or 60 years old, they look amazing.’

After rising to fame on The All New Mickey Mouse Club, she would later land the iconic role that would end up defining her career – the title role on the TV series Felicity
She went on: ‘I watch this show and I’m like, I do not look like that, you know. I like the way I look on the show, and it’s amazing that I feel like that’s strange, like that’s a unique thing to look like that, but it is.’
‘It’s just the nature of our society. But I also find it really enjoyable, I mean, it’s like a fun thing to play,’ she said of her character.
Keri went on: ‘I like how cranky she is about it, and how she’s always trying to fight people about it, and is rude about it. I love it. I find it delightful.’
She also recently told the outlet that she ‘loved’ the show’s nod to the long-running discussion about her hair.
In episode 4 of season 3 her character has a terse conversation with a secret service agent who is meant to be her double, as she criticizes her disheveled hair.
‘It’s not like I don’t wash it. I do. And I comb it,’ her character says.
‘It’s a style. That style is: not looking like you spend hours [doing your hair], because some people have more important things to do. It’s not: couldn’t get the top up on the convertible.’
Season 3 of The Diplomat is currently streaming on Netflix.
Keri co-stars with Rufus Sewell, 55, who plays her husband.
The Diplomat follows Keri’s character Kate, who is named the new American ambassador to the United Kingdom, as she attempts to defuse international crises and form strategic alliances with other countries.
The character also has to manage her deteriorating marriage to Rufus.
The political series also stars Rory Kinnear and David Gyasi as the UK Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary.
The Netflix series was created by former The West Wing and Homeland writer Deborah Cahn.
Keri is also a producer on the series, a first for her illustrious career.
After rising to fame on The All New Mickey Mouse Club, she would later land the iconic role that would end up defining her career – the title role on the TV series Felicity.
She played Felicity Porter, a teenager who decides to enroll at the University of New York to pursue her high school crush.

The show earned countless fans, but viewers were crushed when Felicity infamously chopped off her iconic curly hair in 1999.
‘Then they cut my hair on the show. They were like, ‘Would you do that?’ I was like, ‘Yeah.’ Because the character wasn’t known to be this beautiful person. She was this nerdy, kind of overly emotional college student.
‘And I thought, Of course, every one of my friends cut their hair. They’d break up with a boy, and then they’d have this terrible haircut. So I thought it was perfect.’
‘But it was crazy. People were very upset by that haircut. Sorry.’
