Metformin and vitamin D2 are processed by the body through different pathways. Metformin is primarily removed by the kidneys and does not interfere with the liver enzymes or transport systems that handle vitamin D. Furthermore, their effects on the body do not conflict or overlap in a way that causes harm.
You can continue taking both as prescribed. It is always a good idea to take metformin with a meal to reduce stomach upset, and vitamin D is best absorbed when taken with a meal containing some fat.
