A GYM has raised funds for Skipton Step into Action after hosting a demanding team fitness challenge.

Commando Mindset Fitness Studio in Skipton organised a HYROX Challenge which saw 11 teams take part in a series of intense physical tests combining running and functional fitness over a recent weekend.

The HYROX format involves competitors running 1km followed by a workout station – such as sled pushes, rowing or burpees – repeated eight times, pushing participants’ strength, stamina and teamwork to the limit.

The event brought together a strong turnout of willing participants, with supporters cheering them on throughout the challenge.

Tommy Bayliss, who runs the fitness studio, said: “We’re really happy to be able to support a local charity that’s doing such an incredible job for people who are falling on hard times. We use our love of fitness and extreme challenges to help spread awareness and give something back to the community.”

The event raised £600 for Skipton Step Into Action, a charity that supports people through befriending services, projects and activities to build a sense of pride and belonging, helping people to live their best life possible.

Hannah Crabtree-Day, the charity’s honorary president, said: “It was very impressive to see everyone in action. I was so struck by what a great, supportive and welcoming community Commando Mindset has. We are so grateful to them for raising such a wonderful amount for Skipton Step Into Action.”

Organisers said they were delighted with the success of the event and hope to run similar challenges in the future.
