Mrs South Africa has confirms that Verushka Singh, the first Indian South African to hold the title, has formally resigned from her title as Mrs South Africa 2026.
On its Facebook page, the pageant organiser said Singh had chosen to step down to focus on important personal priorities at this time and to prioritise her family.
Singh said she was grateful for the opportunity to have served on this platform and for the incredible women she had the privilege of standing alongside.
“This decision is entirely my own, made with my family’s needs at heart, and I step away with nothing but appreciation for Mrs South Africa and what it stands for.”
The 39-year-old, of Steyn City, Johannesburg, is a climate change consultant and chemical engineering graduate from the University of the Witwatersrand.
“The organisation respects her decision and acknowledges the responsibility it takes to make choices that honour one’s wellbeing and personal journey,” said Mrs South Africa.
Joani Jacobs, the CEO of Mrs South Africa, said: “Verushka has carried the title with dedication and professionalism during her time on the platform. We respect her decision and support her in prioritising what matters most in this season of her life.”
In keeping with Mrs South Africa tradition and succession protocol, First Princess Carika Bebb will assume the duties and responsibilities of Mrs South Africa 2026 with immediate effect.
“It is an honour to step into this role and to continue the work of this incredible women empowerment platform,” says Bebb.
“I am committed to representing Mrs South Africa with purpose and pride, and look forward to making a meaningful difference through the causes close to my heart.”
