The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) posted a product recall alert on March 27, 2026, for certain lots of Blueroot Health-branded Vital Nutrients Aller‑C dietary supplements, warning that customers with certain allergies may experience “serious or life-threatening reactions” if they consume them.

Why Have the Supplements Been Recalled?

According to the FDA notice, the supplements may contain undeclared egg, hazelnut, and soy. These allergens can pose serious or potentially life‑threatening risks to individuals with food allergies.

Blueroot Health, which is based in Connecticut, notified the FDA after discovering the issue during routine internal testing. The agency published the alert on March 27, 2026.

Which Vital Nutrients Products Are Affected?

The FDA statement establishes that the recall applies to two lots of Vital Nutrients Aller‑C that were distributed nationwide through online retailers, including the company’s own website.

The recalled products are packaged in white plastic bottles and include:

100‑count bottles with lot numbers 25E04‑A and 25E04‑B, which carry the UPC: 693465524114 or 693465000083
200‑count bottles with lot number 25E04‑Bm which carry the UPC: 693465524213 or 693465000090

All affected bottles carry an expiration date of May 2027, which can be found on the side of the container.

Undeclared Allergens Pose Serious Health Risks

The FDA said the presence of undeclared egg, hazelnut, and soy could trigger a severe allergic reaction in people with sensitivities to those ingredients.

Allergic reactions may include symptoms such as hives, swelling, respiratory distress, and in severe cases, anaphylaxis, which is a medical emergency requiring immediate treatment.

Eggs, tree nuts (including Hazelnuts) and soy are three of the FDA’s nine major allergens, alongside wheat, fish, milk, sesame, peanuts, and crustacean shellfish.

The Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004 mandates that any foods or ingredients that contain any of the nine major food allergens should be clearly labeled with its name.

Because food allergies can be life‑threatening even in small amounts, the FDA treats labeling errors involving allergens as a significant public health concern.

No Illnesses Reported So Far

At the time of publishing, Blueroot Health said that no illnesses or adverse reactions had been reported in connection with the recalled supplements.

However, the company and the FDA emphasized that the recall is being conducted out of an abundance of caution to protect consumers.

What Should Consumers Do

Consumers who have purchased the affected supplements are advised to stop using the product immediately. Blueroot Health has instructed customers to return the recalled items to the company, where they will be eligible for a replacement product.

Individuals with questions about the recall can contact Blueroot Health’s customer service team at (888) 328-9992 or support@vitalnutrients.co.
