HANNIBAL — Registrations are now being accepted for a community No Cost Cholesterol and Wellness Screening at Blessing Health Hannibal, 100 Medical Dr. The screening will be held from 7:30 to 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, April 23.
Appointments are limited and registration is required by going online to events.blessinghealth.org and searching for the screening, or by calling 217-277-5000.
This no-cost screening will include total cholesterol, blood pressure, body composition and fasting glucose. Those with an elevated fasting glucose or known history of diabetes or pre-diabetes will also be eligible to receive an A1C screening.
A 12-hour fast is required for all participants. The total cholesterol screening measures HDL, LDL and triglycerides and glucose level. Participants should drink plenty of water and take any medications.
The American Heart Association recommends individuals 20 years of age or older have their cholesterol checked every five years; those with known risks need more frequent monitoring.
