PHJ’s report said there was a “clear gender difference” with exercise as 61% of men met the recommended levels compared to 48% of women.
“Inequalities persist, with higher activity among men, younger adults, those coping easily financially, adults with sufficient time, and owner-occupiers, and lower activity among women, older adults, and those facing financial or time pressure,” it added.
PHJ said time poverty remained a “major barrier” with only 46% of adults who were very time poor meeting the exercise guidelines compared to 67% who were classed as time sufficient.
The reported added 31% of adults ate the recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables a day.
It also said 15% of adults said they went without fruit or vegetables due to cost.
