The perfume world has been getting fun for a while now: with perfumes that smell like drugs, anxiety, the internet, horses and dancefloors circulating in the air for the past couple of years. And while there’s no shame in a basic scent – you can’t go wrong with a bergamot or vetiver – it seems the perfume world is keen on keeping things crazy for a little while longer.

This month saw the release of Eris Parfum’s Mother Milk, a milky floral animalic perfume that explores fantasies of the “good” and “bad” mother, aimed at “reminding us that perfume is an adult pleasure.” Also going milky this month is Glossier’s highly anticipated You Soie fragrance, with notes of rice milk, jasmine and tiare water.

Other than milk, fruit seems to be a favoured muse for perfume this month. Brown Girl Jane releases their Peach Aura scent, which pairs peach with notes of whipped cream and butterscotch, and Phlur drops Honey Moon, with notes of mandarin, honey and vanilla. Another sickly sweet standout is Juliette Has A Gun and their latest Banana Rush drop, and strawberries are the star of the show in Balmain Beauty’s debut prestige fragrance, Destin de Balmain.

Since relaunching fragrance in 2024, Balmain has created some of the team’s favourite perfumes in recent times. Blanc Galaxie, for example, has become one of our go-tos – a citrus, magnolia, patchouli creation that is inspired by lunar eclipses and the spring equinox. Its latest release is more affordable than previous offerings, but it’s just as good, and the fragrance forums are going crazy for it. The strawberry notes actually smell like real strawberries, with none of that synthetic candy scent that you often get, while notes of creamy sandalwood, patchouli, and musky Ambrexolide add a skin warmth and sense of nostalgia (“Very reminiscent of scents of the late 80s and early 90s but without needing to be overwhelming to overcome everyone’s cigarette smoke,” as one Fragrantica reviewer put it.)

“Destin de Balmain features a joyful, optimistic spark of ripe strawberry,” says Quentin Bisch, the nose behind the fragrance, as well as other it-girl perfumes like Delina by Parfums de Marly. “The fruit’s juicy vivacity brings bright, elevated sweetness to the composition. Notes of peony further convey the feeling of rosy fullness, and notes of creamy sandalwood anchor the fragrance in strength and luminosity. It has an irresistible electric energy.”

Aside from the milky and fruity scent drops this month, elsewhere brands were dropping and restocking across make-up, skincare and hair products. Read on to see more of the best beauty launches from this month.
