It’s a personal journey that turned into a lifelong commitment to wellness.
When Wayde Drain, an Independent Distributor with Herbalife Nutrition, reflects on the past four decades, one thought comes to mind immediately: gratitude. What began as a simple decision to support his partner’s health journey has grown into a lifelong passion centered on wellness, family and community connection.
“This April 1 marks 40 years with Herbalife Nutrition,” Drain says. “Looking back, I never imagined this journey would become such a meaningful part of my life.”
Drain’s introduction to Herbalife Nutrition came through friends who experienced positive changes after trying the products. At the time, his girlfriend — wife — Darlene was searching for solutions to ongoing health and weight challenges.
“She had tried many approaches that just didn’t work,” he says. “When she started, everything changed. She felt better, lost weight and finally had her energy back.”
Initially, Drain admits he was skeptical. Farming kept him active, and he didn’t feel he needed a wellness program himself. Still, he decided to try it in support of Darlene… and quickly noticed unexpected benefits.
“I was surprised by how much better I felt too,” he says. “Sometimes you don’t realize how good you can feel until you do.”
What started as a personal experience soon became something more. After seeing results firsthand, Drain’s parents asked to try a program themselves. Encouraged by a mentor’s encouragement to share his own experience and let others decide if they were interested, he officially began his Herbalife Nutrition journey on April 1, 1986.
“That day changed our lives,” he says.
Over time, what began as a way to improve health and earn supplemental income evolved into a full-time career. Drain says the opportunity allowed his family to achieve milestones they once considered out of reach, including home ownership, travel and new experiences. Perhaps most meaningfully, he shares, was the flexibility it created at home.
“For over 30 years, I’ve had the privilege of being a full-time, stay-at-home dad,” he says. “That’s something I never thought possible.”
Their daughters, Chelsea and Krystal, grew up alongside the family business, and today remain involved, creating opportunities to work and travel together- a full-circle moment Drain describes as especially rewarding.
While the financial and lifestyle benefits have been significant, Drain says the greatest reward continues to be helping others feel better about their health.
“After 40 years, the best part is still hearing people say, ‘I haven’t felt this good in years,’” he says.
Today, Drain focuses on offering guidance in a welcoming, low-pressure environment, encouraging people to explore small, sustainable changes. Free samples and complimentary wellness evaluations are available for those curious about getting started.
“Sometimes the hardest part is just taking that first step,” Drain says. “If someone is ready to improve their health, I’m happy to help them begin.”
After 40 years, Drain says his motivation remains simple: sharing what worked for his family and supporting others on their own wellness journeys — one conversation at a time.
