EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) – A new nonprofit is partnering with Blue Zones to look at how to improve community wellbeing across northwestern Wisconsin.

Blue Zones is an international group that focuses on increasing life expectancy by supporting things like health, nutrition, and social wellness within communities.

It will now be working with the new Eau Claire-based nonprofit True Wellness to look at community-wide wellness in Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, Menomonie, Rice Lake, and River Falls and where long term Blue Zones projects could be helpful.

“That score will be based on a lot of different things and different components, and we will find out if our community is technically ready to move on to a full Blue Zone project, or there’s different levels of projects, so it could be a project for a specific work site or school as well,” True Wellness Executive Director Natasha Ward said.

There are ways for community members to get involved. There will be keynote discussion events with True Wellness and Blue Zones this month in each of the communities. Click here for event details.
