The nonprofit estimates around 200 people attended the event, including KSN’s Mike Mahoney, who spoke with competitors about what inspired them to compete.
“This is definitely one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but it’s definitely doable,” competitor Colton Crockett said. “It’s really you and your partner against yourselves.”
Some of the competitors were Wichita firefighters, including Devon Nicholson, who says his on-the-job training not only keeps him in shape but also allows him to compete in the event’s strength and endurance challenges.
“With what we do at the station with gear workouts and regular training that we do every day at Station 1, it kept me in shape on top of running,” Nicholson said.
The event is a way for local athletes to meet new friends, push their limits, and show their strength. But the turnout wasn’t limited to gym enthusiasts.
