Chenango Bridge Elementary is promoting healthy lifestyles and well-being for students during its annual wellness day.
Students in grades three through five rotated through hands‑on activities designed and presentations with a focus on social and emotional well-being.
Community partners, including Binghamton University, BOCES CTE, the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, Dance Intensions, and Cornell Cooperative Extension, lead interactive sessions throughout the day.
Wellness day is a part of an effort to support student health alongside academic success across the district.
Chenango Bridge Principal Jennifer Yurko said, “It is important to our school district to develop the whole child, and so it’s not all about academics. We also know that students need to learn about how to regulate their emotions, how to learn strategies so that they can cope with the different emotions they’re feeling, as well as develop different hobbies or interests that can support their mental well-being.”
