OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) — Love’s Travel Stops is helping fuel bigger, brighter futures by granting Sunbeam Family services $30,000, supporting nutritional services at Oklahoma County early education centers.

“At Love’s, supporting the communities we live and serve in is one of our giving pillars, and this includes helping to ensure children have access to the nutrition they need to grow, learn and thrive,” said Love’s Manager of Community Relations Courtney Franklin. “Organizations like Sunbeam are making a meaningful difference for families, and we’re proud to support their work and invest in the next generation.”

The grant funding will reinforce Sunbeam’s Early Childhood Services Nutrition Program to provide consistent access to nutritious meals for young children, during the vital years of brain development. Sunbeam serves 734 infants and toddlers at 15 Early Head Start and Head Start locations.

“Reliable access to nutritious food supports healthy brain development and provides the energy children need to stay active and ready to learn,” said Sunbeam CEO Sarah Rahhal. “This support allows us to meet children’s basic needs while partnering with families to build healthy routines that last beyond the classroom.”

This funding will bolster daily meal services, nutritional education and direct support for children with dietary needs, while also promoting access to resources for healthy at-home eating.

Sunbeam’s nutrition program includes culturally responsive meals and family dining that enhances social-emotional development and positive eating experiences. Since 2004, Sunbeam has been involved in the Child and Adult Care Food Program to ensure children are receiving at least two-thirds of their daily nutritional needs.
