Two conservative ministers who resigned after being named in a European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) investigation into the fraudulent distribution of European Union agricultural subsidies said they will waive their parliamentary immunity.
In separate statements late Sunday, former rural development minister Kostas Tsiaras and former civil protection minister Giannis Kefalogiannis denied any involvement in wrongdoing.
The two ministers stepped down and were replaced in a cabinet reshuffle Friday after the EPPO dossier was formally transmitted to Parliament.
In comments Monday, Tsiaras said he plans to run in the next general election.
