FLINT, Michigan — The Crim Fitness Foundation and Mott Community College will host the 3rd Annual Mott Miles Challenge: Run with the Bears on April 18, inviting participants to take part in a flexible, loop-based running and walking event on campus.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon at Mott Community College, where participants will have a three-hour window to complete as many one-mile loops as they choose on a closed course. All participants begin at 9 a.m., but can take breaks between loops and continue at their own pace.

Unlike a traditional race, the event is designed for a wide range of ability levels. Each time participants cross the start/finish line, their laps are recorded, allowing them to track distance in real time. The start/finish area will serve as a central hub with music, refreshments, and a high-energy atmosphere.

Participants will receive a long-sleeve technical shirt and a finisher medal. The event also includes competitive elements, such as awards for fastest loops, milestone distances, and total loops completed. A cash prize is offered to anyone who completes 26 loops — the equivalent of a marathon — within the three-hour timeframe.

Additional race-day logistics include packet pickup at Mott’s Durham Wellness and Physical Education Center on April 17 and the morning of the event, along with designated parking areas and on-site facilities for participants.

Brandon Morgan, Crim’s Director of External Relations, said, “Mott Community College and the Bruin Club of Genesee County are great partners to us, and we are excited that they help us stage an event that provides something for every kind of participant. Whether you are running or walking your first-ever mile or you’re challenging yourself to more than 20 loops around the course, there is a sense of collective achievement and belonging at this event. We see participants of every age and ability level coming together for what is becoming an awesome spring tradition.”
