Savannah, GA (WSAV) — It’s a mission born out of love and loss. After the passing of cancer warrior and beloved hair stylist April Harmon Daniel’s last year, there was a deep desire to make sure her name, her spirit, and her impact would continue to live on in a meaningful way.

Nisha Wingster of Flawless Hair Studio is planning the “Elite Beauty Summit” in collaboration with 1201 Gives. A portion of the proceeds will go toward a charity they’re calling April’s Crown– a legacy initiative created to honor the life, strength, and impact of Savannah hair stylist and servant leader, April Harmon Daniels.

And they’re bringing in the heavy hitters in hair care to help them in this effort. Robin Groover, founder of Too Groovy and Groove Global nationwide is one of them.

They sat down with WSAV’s Kim Gusby to talk about their mission and impact.

Through April’s Crown, the initiative aims to:

Provide scholarships and opportunities for aspiring cosmetologists and beauty professionals

Create a platform that recognizes talent, passion, and perseverance

Inspire confidence and purpose in the next generation

Preserve legacy while building future leaders in the beauty industry

Remind people that what they do behind the chair has power, purpose, and impact
