As crew, you’ve been there, done all the fun things in town. Let’s face it, you’re tired and just want a break on your next day off. Great news — CrewRenew, a new wellness-focused platform built by yacht crew for yacht crew, is on a mission to make that easier and more affordable for crew. CrewRenew is offering exclusive discounts to crewmembers at businesses in key yachting hubs, including gyms, yoga studios, spas, juice bars, golf courses, and other wellness services and activities.
Its goal is to provide crew with better options for how they spend their limited time off. Founded by crewmember Alex Paterson, CrewRenew is built on his personal yachting experience.
“In my 10 years in the industry, I have witnessed and felt the pressures associated with life on board,” Paterson said. “This leads to burnout and a general ‘escape mentally,’ which we see in yachting.” Drinking and partying have been synonymous with the crew lifestyle, but it doesn’t have to be.

“CrewRenew intends to shift focus from this escape mentality toward a mindset of actively managing personal wellbeing, keeping yourself ‘Renewed’ and ready, using the limited time we have in a positive manner,” Paterson said. “We intend to promote longevity and hope that through CrewRenew, we can see a change.”
During the company’s launch period, crew will pay just $10 a month to join. Merchants can join for free and choose which services they wish to offer.
“I think it’s important for crew to have easier access to healthier alternatives than what’s currently available,” Paterson said. “On a personal note, I feel like I would have benefited tremendously from CrewRenew through the years. It’s inevitable that we as crew are going to spend, but with CrewRenew, it makes it possible to save while you spend!”
The service initially launched with a focus on South Florida (Miami, Broward, and Palm Beach counties), with plans to expand into all major port areas. Merchant partners are offering discounts from 15% to 50% off for verified crew.
Early partners include:
The Space Fort Lauderdale, Cycle Ward, Yoga Factory Fort Lauderdale and Las Olas Yoga for fitness and wellness, Panthera Palm Beach, City Cave Spa Flagler Village and Lifestream Spa for recovery and relaxation, adventure experiences with Keen Fly and iFly, plus MAD Arts creative immersion, Flamingo Gardens, beauty services with Guys & Dolls, Studio 703 and Man Cave Barbershop, transportation with Gold Coast Car Rental, and more to come.
“CrewRenew isn’t about telling anyone what they should or shouldn’t do,” Paterson said. “It is simply an offer of incentives to choose the healthier alternatives that actually help crew relax, refresh, and renew.”
