Assistant Chief Dennis Eannotti, who was responding on the initial alarm, requested additional resources based on the updated information.
Engine 2 arrived shortly after and deployed a handline to begin what the report described as an aggressive fire attack. Crews from Rescue 1 helped gain access to the involved vehicles and addressed hazardous runoff from the fire, including fluids entering a nearby storm drain. Engine 1 established a water supply and supported the suppression effort.
The fire was quickly brought under control, and the damage was contained to the three vehicles, according to officials.
Because runoff from the fire entered the storm drainage system, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection responded to assist with containment and mitigation.
The Fairfield Fire Marshal’s Division was requested to the scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire. The cause remains under investigation.
