JACKSON, Tenn. — Dealing with painful, itchy flare-ups and visible skin irritation? You’re not alone.
More than 8 million Americans are living with psoriasis, a chronic autoimmune condition. Health experts say the most common type, plaque psoriasis, affects the majority of people diagnosed with the disease.
Wellness advocate Nitika Chopra, shares more on the everyday reality of managing plaque psoriasis.
“People would see my psoriasis before they would really see me and it made me so self-conscious,” said Chopra.
Chopra says many people with this diagnosis feel alone. It’s important to know there are plenty of resources to help you manage your symptoms.
“It really is important to kind of customize a treatment program with your doctor and to have your doctor be your ally,” said Stacy London, fashion expert and former ‘What Not To Wear’ host.
London, says during spring and summer, wearing lightweight and natural fabrics can help you navigate life while still feeling stylish and comfortable.
