Edu Campoy’s V.E.N! (Virtual Emotions Network) returns with the compact, restless EP The Beauty of Danger, where power-pop pep collides with prog-minded sweep. Think 60s pop hooks dressed in post-punk jackets, Britpop bravado softened by spiritual, intimate lyrics, and a strong visual streak of handmade collages that frame each song like a tiny manifesto.
Right off the bat “NOW” slaps your present-tense senses awake, as a bright, arpeggiated guitars and a buoyant rhythm push a bittersweet mantra of reinvention. Lyrically it’s defiant, because “Now is forever” feels like a vow, and the arrangement lets the melody breathe, so the line drops like a small rebellion. That forward momentum makes it an earworm you’ll wear like your favorite coat.
Then “Cloud of Bliss” grinds in with warm guitars and drums that thump like a city heart, while the guitars edge into tension, and the singer’s high, husky voice hovers gentle and reflective, turning everyday scenes into faintly sacred snapshots. It’s tender but not saccharine, so you can feel the friction and the glow at once.
“The Silence of God” shifts the mood darker, as chiming guitars set a halo above a heavy low-end beat, and the vocals are somber and engaged, wrestling with spiritual absence and small, stubborn faith. It’s the EP’s thinking-man’s slow burn.
By the time “Coliving, Polyamory & E-Scooter” rolls around, drums rumble and the melody soars over gritty, melodic guitar. It threads social commentary through romantic moods without breaking a sweat.
All told, The Beauty of Danger is short but sharp, as it’s catchy enough to sing in the shower, deep enough to study in the dark. Check it out on Spotify.
