I always wonder how any of out cities in Minnesota come out on the list of one of the most healthiest. I always think that healthy cities have a bunch of physical activities available to everyone. And that equates to warmer climates – at least to me. Definitely does not mean that is accurate. It’s just how my brain works.
WHERE ARE THE TOP 5 HEALTHIEST CITIES LOCATED
And yes, the top 5 healthiest cites do all exist on the Western coast of the United States. But obviously Minnesota is no slouch as it comes in the top 15. When you think of how many larger cities there are in the US, that’s pretty good!
Minneapolis is the 13th most healthy citiy in the United States. Not bad. But what makes up the criteria to have that as the result?
WHAT IS THE CRITERIA THAT WALLETHUB GOES BY
According to Wallethub,
Healthcare, food, fitness and green space. And that’s how Minneapolis comes in at number 13.
If you’re curious, the city that came in last place is Brownsville, Texas. So that basically means that healthcare isn’t great, people are not fit, there is bad food choices all over the place, and a lack of green space. Ok.
WHERE DO THESE RANKINGS COME FROM TO BE HEALTHIEST
Wallethub also goes on to say that they do these rankings so that people are more aware, and can either relocate if they are thinking about doing that, or just to make some adjustments to their own lives.
Where you live can have a major impact on your health. Some cities encourage wellness by improving access to fresh, nutritious food and recreational spaces. Others focus on keeping health care affordable or maintaining clean, safe parks for residents. When these essential factors are overlooked, maintaining good health becomes much more challenging.
