Febin Sharafudeen has been documenting her 100-day fitness challenge on social media in hopes of getting people into the gym

Febin ‘Phoebe’ Sharafudeen is making an effort to inspire people in the Sault to live an active, healthy lifestyle.

In January, she began a 100-day fitness challenge at her gym — a journey that Sharafudeen has been documenting on Facebook and Instagram ever since.

She wraps up her fitness challenge on Sunday, after going to the gym for two to three hours each day.

“It helps you physically and mentally, because I will tell you I was also getting seasonal depression,” she told SooToday. “But this year, I am always happy — people want to know what’s the secret.

“This is my secret.”

Sharafudeen’s commitment to keeping active goes back to four years ago, when a blood test revealed that she had high levels of cholesterol.

“I was thinking at that time I was healthy, but I wasn’t,” she said.

Having grown tired of making excuses for herself, Sharafudeen decided to embark upon her own personal fitness journey in 2024.

She started by eating better and going for walks around Bellevue Park, before making the choice to start resistance training at the gym last year.

The Sault College graduate says she has lost a total of 40 lbs. since her journey to wellness began.

“Invest now for a better life. That was my goal,” Sharafudeen said.

Her presence on social media has since inspired others to join Sharafudeen for workouts at her gym.

“If anyone wants to go to the gym and they are shy, come to my gym — or any gym,” she said. “If they want me to go and help them, I am willing to do that, because I want everyone to win.”

Sharafudeen plans on beginning a new fitness challenge where she will try to log 20,000 steps each day over the course of 60 days.
