Essentia Health is proud to announce a $50,000 contribution to support the International Falls Community Wellness Center project. This contribution will support efforts to transform the high school’s outdated weight room into a modern Community Wellness Center designed to support mental and physical health, youth development and community wellness.
“At Essentia, we know that health is impacted by factors outside the walls of our clinics and hospitals. That’s why we’re excited to support the creation of a new Community Wellness Center in International Falls,” said Rob Davenport, operations manager for Essentia Health-International Falls Clinic. “By creating a space for physical recreation and wellness programming, the project will support youth mentorship and development and serve as a valuable resource for the community. We look forward to supporting this project and vision as it comes to life.”
The new wellness center is expected to serve over 1,000 students and community members annually. The renovated facility will feature updated strength and fitness equipment, improved seating, layout and family-friendly design elements. In addition to physical education classes, the new space will support after-school wellness programming, summer recreation programs, peer-led fitness and mentorship activities, family education events and community wellness nights.
“We are incredibly grateful to Essentia Health for their investment in our students, families and community. This funding allows us to take the first meaningful steps toward creating a space where young people feel safe, supported and connected,” said Falls High School Principal Melissa Tate. “In a time when too many of our students and families are impacted by addiction, this project represents hope – a place where prevention, wellness and belonging come first.”
The International Falls school district continues to fundraise for the project.
“This support marks the first step in our phased wellness project as we continue to seek partners and investors to help bring the full vision to life,” continued Tate. “Our ultimate goal is to secure $250,000 to fully realize this transformative space. We are proud to partner with Essentia Health in addressing these challenges and building a healthier future for our community.”
This contribution is part of Essentia’s commitment to investing in the communities it serves. Last year, Essentia supported over 189 nonprofit community organizations through volunteering and partnerships and invested over $2 million in direct contributions.
