Students and staff from P.S. 307Q Pioneer Academy gathered to celebrate the opening of the school’s newly transformed teacher wellness lounge and student movement atrium.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to mark the opening of a newly transformed teacher and wellness lounge and student movement atrium at P.S. 307Q Pioneer Academy, located at 40-20 100th St. in Corona, on Monday, April 13.

Among those on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony were Queens Borough President Donovan Richards, Council Member Shanel Thomas-Henry, Pioneer Academy Principal Cecilia Jackson, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Regional Vice President Victor Bell, New York iHeartMedia Markets Group President Steve DeLusant, Impact Fitness Foundation Founder and President Chris Welsh, New York Liberty mascot Ellie the Elephant and her Stompaz and students, staff and volunteers from Pioneer Academy.

These new functional environments help promote physical activity, mental wellness and restoration for students and teachers at the school.

The teacher wellness lounge and student movement atrium were created in partnership with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, iHeartMedia, the New York Liberty and the Impact Fitness Foundation.

We’re investing to make sure, because iron sharpens iron,” Richards said. “Take advantage of every opportunity here. Education is really your foundation. Education is your tool to make sure that you’re more successful and that you can dream big.”
