TUSCOLA, Ill. (WCIA) — A longtime Douglas County mental health and substance treatment provider will close next month after 50 years of service.

RISE Behavioral Health and Wellness announced via Facebook on Friday that it will be ending clinical operations on May 22 ahead of a “full organizational transition” at the end of June. In a Facebook post, staff cited “ongoing funding and staffing challenges” as the reason why.

Illinois loses 18k jobs in February, unemployment rises to 5%

“This decision comes after thoughtful consideration by the Board of Directors and leadership, reflecting both operational realities and a commitment to responsible, ethical care,” part of the post reads. “There was a sincere effort made to find a path forward that would allow services to continue. However… RISE Behavioral Health and Wellness determined that closing is the most responsible way to honor its commitments to clients, to staff, and to the community.”

Staff said their priority will remain to people in their care, and they will work with clients to provide individual support, including referrals and coordination with other trusted providers.

“While this chapter is coming to a close, the impact of the work will continue. The care that happens does not live within the organization itself but within the people we’ve had the privilege of serving throughout the years,” staff added. “RISE Behavioral Health and Wellness extends deep gratitude to its clients, staff, partners, and community members who have been part of the work over the years. It has been a privilege to walk alongside this community, and RISE Behavioral Health and Wellness is committed to closing in a way that reflects the heart of our mission.”
