Jan Lisiecki has found a good home with a record label that let him do exactly what he wanted to do fourteen years ago: record Mozart. The Canadian pianist returns to Mozart (along with his label Deutsche Grammophon), this time with the Bamberger Symphoniker and conductor Manfred Honeck, with concertos 9 (K. 271) and 22 (K. 482).

These are “operatic” works, but not showy for its own sake. Lisiecki talks about finding the beauty and joy in the simplicity, having a dialogue with the orchestra and conductor, and the difficulty of going from a studio recording to a live performance of the same music.
