CRDB Bank has transformed its employee Wellness Day into a dynamic fitness showcase, prioritizing sport and physical activity as key components of workforce health. The bank’s strategic initiative combines physical exercise with comprehensive health education, creating a holistic approach to employee wellbeing.

At Kiringe Garden grounds in Arusha, CRDB Bank employees traded their office attire for workout gear in what resembled a mini sports festival. The event featured aerobics sessions, competitive games, and team-building exercises, complemented by medical check-ups and wellness clinics to create a balanced health promotion experience.

The program, which began in 2021, aims to help employees maintain wellbeing while managing demanding work schedules. CRDB’s Director of Banking Operations, Admin Mwansasu, emphasized the connection between physical fitness and workplace performance during the event.

“Just like athletes, consistency, resilience and discipline are key to success,” Mwansasu said, highlighting how customer satisfaction ultimately depends on a healthy and motivated workforce. This philosophy underscores the bank’s approach to employee wellness as both a health initiative and a business strategy.

The Arusha event is part of a nationwide rollout that began earlier this year in Mwanza before reaching the Northern Zone. CRDB plans to extend the program across all eight operational zones where the bank maintains a presence, including its international branches, signaling a significant investment in employee health.

Acting Director of Human Resources, Timoth Fasha, revealed that the bank is working with health professionals to provide guidance on multiple aspects of wellbeing, including fitness regimens, nutritional advice, sleep hygiene, and mental health support.

Fasha acknowledged a common challenge in the banking sector: employees often neglect their health due to demanding schedules. “With many spending long hours seated, inactivity and stress become real risks. Sport and exercise are no longer optional, they are necessary,” he explained.

The comprehensive program extends beyond physical activity. Participants have access to medical professionals and counselors who provide advice on stress management techniques, relationship guidance, and general lifestyle improvements—addressing the full spectrum of factors that contribute to employee wellbeing.
