The Chattanooga Track Club presents the 59th Annual Chattanooga Chase on May 25, in partnership with the YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga.
“This new partnership supports our Vision 2028 strategy to serve 25,000 more people by 2028,” said Baron Herdelin-Doherty, president and CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga. “The community and family-friendly nature of the Chattanooga Chase aligns with our vision.”
“The partnership will bring together one of the region’s most beloved races and one of its strongest community organizations to promote health, connection and family engagement,” officials said.
“Community is at the center of the Chattanooga Chase, and the YMCA truly embodies that by creating welcoming places for all,” said Alan Outlaw, owner of Fast Break and race director of the Chattanooga Chase.
“This partnership will attract new runners and walkers from the YMCA community while encouraging even more people to get involved – whether through racing or participating in the post-race block party.”
To help participants prepare for race day, the YMCA is offering two training options:
A six-week in-person training program designed for runners looking to progress from a 5K to an 8K.
A free virtual training plan, designed by YMCA instructors and available online to anyone in the community.
Established in 1968, the Chattanooga Chase is the area’s oldest active competitive road race, featuring an 8K and The Extra Mile for Siskin. The course winds through the scenic, historic Riverview neighborhood on the North Shore, and the one mile offers a family-friendly option for children and first-time participants.
Following the race, the YMCA will help activate a kids and family area at the Block Party on Hanover Street with inflatables, including an inflatable obstacle course and opportunities for families to connect with YMCA staff and programs.
