A US biotech company has begun trials for a COVID-19 vaccine in Australia. Novavax said its vaccine works by using an adjuvant — an agent that induces a stronger immune response to a disease by boosting production of antibodies. Preliminary results from the Phase 1 clinical trial are expected in July. Phase 2 will be conducted in several countries, including the US.
