The Coronavirus, what is it and how do you protect yourself while traveling? Dr. Thomas Lodi at The LifeCo wellness center in Phuket Thailand tells you what you nee dot know about the Novel Coronavirus.
Here are some answers to some commonly asked questions about the coronavirus. What is the coronavirus and is it a death sentence?
No, it is not a death sentence. The Coronavirus is exactly a very mild virus. At this point in time, this virus has a 2% mortality rate which is very mild. As a comparison, the flu or influenzas have a 10-15% death rate.
In the United States this year, 10,000 people have died from the flu and the media is not talking about it. In China, approximately 300 people have died (as of the publication of this video) from the Coronavirus, one has died in the Philippines and no one had died in Thailand.
People with weakened immune systems are the ones that are susceptible to the Coronavirus. Other people who are susceptible to this virus have cancer as they are immune-compromised and the elderly. Many of the people who have died in China are over the age of 65. The average person is not at risk.
What should you do when you are traveling to protect yourself? If you feel more comfortable wearing a mask then wear a mask. However, you don’t have to as the protection is minimal at best.
What would be more important would be to take vitamin c. When buying it, buy just vitamin c, you don’t need anything else in the bottle. Take 1,000 to 2,000 mg’s four to five times a day.
Take 30 mgs of Zinc three times a day. Vitamin A would be the third supplement to take while traveling. So, to recap while traveling take vitamin c, zinc and vitamin a.
Get to bed early and get good sleep. And, people while traveling on vacation tend to overeat and drink too much. Try to avoid this and do this in moderation.
