What exactly are nutrient interactions? There are two main types:
Synergistic: This is where two or more vitamins and/or minerals work together. This could be that one is necessary for the other to be absorbed into the body. Or they are both used in the same body process. Some may be cofactors for enzymes that then increase the absorption or use of a certain nutrient. So basically, they work together and if you have one, you do a lot better if you have the other.
Antagonistic: This is where the nutrients actually fight one another. This may be at the absorption level, to where they are both absorbed by the same receptors. Or they may be transported by the same transporters in the cell. Some may actually block the use of the other type of nutrient.
