👉Talk: Creating Awareness of Role of Spices As Immunity Booster Among Students During Covid 19 Pandemic

During the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a lot of interest to strengthen one’s immune system to build a first line of defense against the deadly virus. According to the World Health Organization, around 80% of the world’s population uses herbal medicines for primary health care, particularly across Europe and South Asia. Many of these herbs not only have anti- inflammatory properties, they also help build up the body’s natural immunity. And unlike allopathic medicines like antibiotics, which can have serious side effects, most of these herbs and spices are relatively safe. Unlike drugs we don’t need to take spices instead we can add
them to our favorite dishes for a kick of flavor and increased immunity.

In present study I have created awareness of role of spices in immunity building through Watsapp group and Skype call among students. The students were asked to collect basic information about use of spices in Indian food from their parent and grandparents. I have explained the of their medicinal properties and exactly how they contribute in immunity building. Simultaneously I taught them molecular formula, structural formula and functional group of their respective components. While learning this students were advised to take turmeric milk or ginger tea on daily basis. As well recipe of Basil decoction with other herbs was suggested to take to boost immunity.
