Easy Wellness Shot Recipe / Cold and Flu Drink

It’s that time of year, the cold and flu season is in full swing and lasting a little longer this year, and it seems like we’re always grabbing for a flu season drink lately in search to figure out which one of the common cold remedies will work! There are so many wellness shot options, so I came up with an easy wellness shot recipe. What makes this wellness shot recipe so easy is that all you need is a blender. Another thing about thing wellness shot for when you’re sick is that this is a wellness shot that tastes good. Have you tried to find a good tasting cold and flu drink? It can be a challenge. So many cold and flu drinks just don’t taste very good. There are a lot of recipes for turmeric shots as well as ginger shots recipe, and for good reason. The amount of ginger shots benefits is impressive and we can always use it as an immune system drink.

For this recipe, you will need the following ingredients:

Half an orange. It’s important to note that we are adding the entire orange into the blender and not just using orange juice. The sugar content in just orange juice is not the best when you’re sick and using the whole fruit with the fiber is better for this drink. For more information on the role fiber plays in juicing, you can check out my video on blending vs juicing. I’ll leave a link for that in the description box below. You can even omit the orange from the recipe completely, but I kept it in to make the flavor of the drink a little more manageable for some people. Feel free to do whatever works best for you!

The juice of one small lemon. Like oranges, lemons are packed with vitamin C.

½ tsp ground turmeric. Turmeric can help your immune system with its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Plain turmeric shots make for great wellness shots for colds as well.

Pinch of black pepper. Adding black pepper when taking turmeric increases can increase its bioavailability up to 2000%. Turmeric shots are great to take as a cold and flu drink.

½ tsp ground ginger. Ginger can help boost your immune system as well as help the digestive system when you’re sick and help eliminate nausea. Plain ginger shots are also great and there are a lot of ginger shot benefits as well.

Finally, you just want to top it off with a little cayenne pepper.

Place all the ingredients into a blender and process until everything is mixed well. Since we used an actual orange and not just orange juice, this is a lot thicker and more like a drink. To make it more of a shot, add a little water to reach your desired consistency.
