Can people who have recovered from COVID-19 be given an immunity passport or a certificate? So that they can get back to their jobs and their daily lives? This is what the UK and the German governments
are thinking about. UK’s Health Secretary Matt Hancock says that
their government is thinking about such a move. In Germany, researchers are carrying out a mass study to study the immunity of recovered patients. Researchers at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research will test 100,000 people for coronavirus antibodies in their blood. A positive test will allow the person to leave the lockdown. And many positives will allow the government to lift restrictions in an area. But the problem of this scheme is that experts are unsure about the length of this immunity against the virus
While many see this as a good step to keep
the economy partially going. It could take some time for it to be implemented as there is no still accurate test to detect COVID-19 antibodies.
