Basically, the pandemic stress and lockdowns have:
• Suppressed your immune system
• Pushed you to eat crappy high-calorie foods
• Increased your body and belly fat which threw off your hormones
So, what can you do to rebuild yourself from the effects of the pandemic stress on your body?
Here are some simple suggestions:
• Focus on controlling things that are under your control. Freaking out over the unknown will compromise your health.
• Learn to embrace the uncertainties of life. The pandemic has created many uncertainties. Try to focus on solvable worries and refocus your mind on the present moment.
• Most importantly, you MUST change your perception of the current stressors during this pandemic. By doing so, you can minimize the release of cortisol, adrenaline, and norepinephrine, as well as the destructive effects they have on the body.
• Stop eating processed, high-calorie, sugar-pumping, insulin-pumping foods. Eat nutrient-dense foods to mitigate the harmful effects of the processed food diet you’ve been on over the last few months.
• Exercise. Research shows regular exercise boosts the immune system, and increases the levels of healthy hormones.
• Breathe. Slow controlled and mindful breathing has been shown to reduce the effects of stress by decreasing stress hormones in the body.
