For the first time, researchers at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity have discovered how humans fight off the virus. They mapped the immune responses from one of the country’s first coronavirus patients, a 40-year-old woman and found that people’s immune systems respond to coronavirus in the same way it typically fights flu. The scientists are hopeful their findings help in the race for an effective vaccine.
