Vitamin e is sometimes used to help fight off side effects of medical treatments such as dialysis and radiation for treating cancer. In the United States the National Institutes of health recommends 15 milligrams of vitamin e daily for people that are 14 years or older. There are vitamin e supplements available but food is the best source of vitamin e. and I’m going to tell you what the highest common sources of vitamin e rich foods are in each food category. So get ready here’s what you need to know.
My first food category I’m completely nuts about which is NUTS. The king nut for vitamin e foods are almonds. A 1 ounce serving contains 7.3 milligrams of vitamin e. (37% DV) The next category is vegetables. The vegetable with the highest vitamin e is spinach which contains 3.7 milligrams of vitamin e. (19% DV)
Next up is my favorite fruit and thats avocado. Yes, many people don’t realize it’s a fruit and 1 cup of avocado contains 3.1 milligrams. (16% DV) In the seed family sunflower seeds contain the most vitamin e. a 1/4 cup contains 11.6 milligrams (58% DV)
For fish and meat abalone tops the list with 3.4 milligrams per 3 ounces. Followed up by salmon & trout. and for oils 1 tablespoon of wheat germ oil contains a whopping 20.2 milligrams of vitamin e.
