The term “herd immunity” has been constantly used ever since the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus pandemic. Herd immunity, when achieved, is the point at which the virus can no longer spread widely as there are not enough vulnerable humans. Scientists have suggested that for achieving “herd immunity”, perhaps 70 per cent of a given population must be immune, ideally through vaccination.
